Cassandra Angus Kinesiologist
My name is Cassandra Angus and I am the Founder of Stellar Performance. I’d love to tell you a little about myself and what led me to start my business in kinesiology, health and fitness.
I joined a circus at a young age and fell in love with performance arts throughout my youth. During that time I learned a lot about human movement, my physical and psychological limitations and how my body responds to stress and pain. This is what first led me to study kinesiology.
Many years later, as I was starting my academic career, I was in three major car accidents, all within 11 months, as a passenger in all three of them. This stripped me of my ability to move freely and comfortably and prolonged my Kinesiology degree by 4 years.
Despite the obstacles I faced, I was able to rehabilitate my mind and body. It took 8 years, many practitioners, and lots of time and dedication. My rehabilitation is still being maintained to this day. Throughout this time, I was able to complete a Diploma of Sport Science, a Bachelors of Physical Education & Coaching, and a program specialization in kinesiology. I am now proud to say that I am a practicing member of the BC Kinesiology Association (BCAK). Furthermore, I am a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor, which allows me to reach more people within my community.
The fact that I have gone through the mental and physical challenges of being restricted in movement for many years is what sets me apart as a kinesiologist and trainer. I understand that injuries can be disruptive and can be isolating without a proper support system. My goal is to help people navigate their health and fitness journey to make it fun and long lasting.
Whether my clients are recovering from a car accident or a sports injury, I can understand the frustrating process of getting back to 100%, whatever that looks like for them. It is my goal to help make the rehabilitation process smooth and straightforward so that my clients can focus on getting back to their happy, healthy selves!

Matthew Battad
Matthew will return to Balance to offer RMT services in the fall 2026.
Matthew is from East Vancouver and has always embraced an active lifestyle. He has played most sports but over time, beach volleyball has become his true passion. He now competes at a high level and hopes to take his game to the international stage one day.
Matthew’s background as an athlete has taught him a lot about how the body works—how strong and capable it can be, but also how easily it can be pushed past its limits. After experiencing his fair share of injuries and recovery journeys, he developed an appreciation for the power of proper care, movement, and rehabilitation. This awareness led him to massage therapy.
Matthew’s philosophy is that massage is more than just a treatment—it’s a way to connect with people, help them move and feel better, and give back to a community that’s given him so much.
In his practice, Matthew likes to focus on understanding each person’s unique needs and tailoring treatments that support their lifestyle—whether that’s improving athletic performance, speeding up recovery, or simply easing the tension of everyday life.
When he’s not practicing, you’ll most likely find Matthew on the beach volleyball court, exploring Vancouver’s parks, or enjoying time with friends and family. Helping people live active, pain-free lives is what drives him, and he is continually growing in this field.

Jessica Thompson
Jessica has always found joy in physical activity and living an active lifestyle against the backdrop of the mountains and ocean. Growing up, movement and physical activity were an important part of her life, which helped shape her appreciation for the connection between physical health, recovery, and overall well- being. Having been involved in sports from a young age Jessica understands that our bodies need some extra TLC to keep us moving and feeling our best.
Her interest in massage therapy grew from a desire to help people feel better in their everyday lives — whether that means reducing pain, recovering from injury, managing stress, or simply taking time to care for themselves. She values creating a comfortable and supportive environment where clients feel listened to and cared for and believes treatment should be tailored to each individual’s unique needs and goals.
Outside of the clinic, she enjoys staying active, whether that’s through a quick run around the seawall, exploring the nearby forests, or a gym session. In slower moments Jessica enjoys reading, exploring galleries or art exhibitions, and catching up with friends and family.
